The Pirate’s Pals, Captain’s Crew and Grandma’s Gang all set their sails again for day two of our Adventure Cruise Holiday Club at Whitton Baptist Church! After so much fun and excitement on our first day on board, we again set on our adventure cruise of the 4 C’s! Yesterday we navigated our way across the C of choice, but today our voyage took us to the C of courage.

Once all our shipmates were ready for another great day, we all gathered together for John Hardwick’s introduction to the day.

This of course started with the Adventure Cruise theme song shortly followed with a recap of yesterdays memory verse song. Once we were all warmed up from the introductory songs John and his monkey friend, Charlie, took to the stage, where Charlie was worrying about his holiday to France. But in the end, he managed to pluck enough courage to take the plunge, face his fears of travelling by boat, car and aeroplane and go on holiday with his mum!

Next, we set about learning the memory verse for today, with another set of energetic and exciting actions to accompany the words! With that done, we joined the Watt family again for the next chapter in their thrilling story! Having rescued a captains briefcase yesterday from a pesky pirate, the Watt’s were loving their free holiday on the luxury cruise liner! But it wasn’t all plain sailing for Grandma, who found herself accidentally overhearing some crooked pirate’s plan to steal some passenger’s expensive jewellery! Once the pesky pirate’s got wind of this, they captured her and took her away, but Grandma thought it was one big game! Whatever will happen to poor Grandma in the hands of the villainous pirates?

As we reached the midway point of our second day it was time for the children to separate into their rotations and take part in craft, games and group time! Today the children were making some seagulls and some very decorative bunting to really brighten up the place! In the games, the children were worked very hard with a couple of games that really tested their fitness! Jumping, skipping, running and hopping all around the place to earn them valuable points for their teams! In group time, there was a well earned rest from all the excitement, some of the older children even had a go at building a model of the Eiffel Tower!

After that, we all moved back together in the main hall for the latter part of the day. Once together, we sang a song with music provided by the house band and had

another recap of the memory verse, but this time, with a twist. 3 brave volunteers took to the stage to sing the memory verse … while standing on one leg … with a cup of water balanced on their head … and being squirted relentlessly by John! But somehow, they all managed to do it, so well done to them!

Just before we cast ashore for another day, John told the children today’s bible story which was the story of the woman who washed Jesus’ feet with her hair from Luke chapter 7. Once again, our teams went head to head to see who could gain the most points in today’s quiz. The points were totalled up ready to be revealed tomorrow afternoon.

And that was that! Half way through a our magnificent adventure cruise and our ship is still sailing in our voyage across the 4 C’s. See you tomorrow for what will surely be another jam-packed, fun-filled adventure aboard HMS Whitton.
